  • Payment must be remitted before the first lesson of the month.

  • Invoices will be sent out one week prior to the first lesson of each month and will cover the full month of lessons.

  • Payments can be made by cash, check, UWCU Money Link, or Zelle.

Commitment

  • When students enroll, they reserve their spot for the whole month. Please notify me if you know your schedule is going to change before next month’s payment is due.

Cancellations

  • If the client cancels:

    • Families are allowed one grace cancellation per month and can reschedule a make-up lesson. Make-up lessons will either be scheduled for Friday evenings or over the summer. If you need to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can find a suitable date to make up the lesson.

    • If more than one lesson is canceled in a month, the client will be fully charged for the second lesson and beyond with no make-up lesson option.

  • If the teacher cancels:

    • If the teacher cancels the lesson due to illness or inclement weather, the teacher will work with the family to reschedule the lesson. If the lesson cannot be rescheduled, the lesson will be credited towards the next month of lessons.

  • Sickness

    • Please reschedule lessons if you or your child is ill or is positive for Covid-19. This ensures that I can remain healthy to continue teaching lessons and prevents me from spreading illness to other families. We will work together to find a time to reschedule the lesson. Thank you in advance for being considerate.

Termination of services:

  • The teacher has the right to terminate services at any time.

  • If the client terminates services:

    • The client must notify the teacher at least two weeks in advance.

Materials:

  • When new method books need to be purchased, I will purchase the books for you. An invoice will be sent for reimbursement of materials.

  • The student must have access to a piano/keyboard for lessons as well as daily practice. The piano/keyboard should be full-sized (88 keys). If using a keyboard, it should have a pedal(s), a bench, a music stand, and the keys should be fully-weighted.

  • If you are looking to upgrade your piano, I have resources to help you find a reputable brand/model for your next piano.

Observing lessons:

  • Parents/guardians are welcome to quietly observe lessons. If you have any questions during the lesson, please jot them down and I can answer them after the lesson has completed.

daily practicing:

  • The student will have a lesson assignment book of what they should practice each week. There will be a place for you to add comments/questions/concerns as you/your pianist is practicing throughout the week.

  • Practicing is about quality over quantity. Sitting on a piano bench for long periods can be difficult. When forced to practice for long durations of time, the quality of the practice goes down. If you/your child needs help creating a routine for practicing, I have resources to help.
